Thanks to IEW’s monthly newsletter, I just learned of a new test that replaces the problematic standardized tests that shackle teachers to Common Core standards, the ACT, and the SAT. Many private schools and homeschools educate their students using a classical model. Until recently, there was no standardized test or college entrance exam geared toward these students.

The Classic Learning Test (CLT) is changing that. Not only do they offer tests for 7th through 10th graders, they also offer a 11th-12th grade test which serves as a college entrance exam! This test is currently accepted in place of SAT and ACT exams at over 200 colleges. I was very pleased to see that Truett McConnell University, which many of my students attend online as joint enrolled students, also accepts the CLT! Soon they will also offer tests for 3rd through 6th grade.

Read CLT’s inspiring story and then check out the rest of their site. The IEW blog post offers a great review of the CLT. IEW website customers also receive a 25% discount for all test registrations with the code IEW25.

I am thrilled when I see fresh and creative thinking and solutions that truly improve the world; IEW is one such solution, which is why I am so devoted to teaching it! The CLT joins a burgeoning class of creative educational resources. Competition in the market, including the educational market, always brings forth a better product than monopolies ever can. The mission of CLT is “Re-Introducing Truth, Beauty, and Goodness to Modern Education.” I salute their effort to make the world a better place by putting noble and sensible ideas into action.
