All Writing to Learn classes are available as online classes held live through Zoom, a wonderful free app that allows us to see and hear each other in real time! Online classes are limited to 14 students per class. See my class schedule for days and times of available online classes.
Level 1 and Level 2 online classes are made up of students participating exclusively through Zoom at a remote location. (Local students who enroll in Level 1 or Level 2 online classes participate online. They do not come to my classroom even though they are local.)
PREP-1 is strictly online through Zoom; no local class is available.
In Level 3 class, online students participate with my local Level 3 class, also through Zoom: local students are in the classroom with me, and online and local participants can all see and hear each other via video and audio over my computer screen.
Online students are required to have the following:
- A computer equipped with functioning video and audio (Logitech makes some fairly inexpensive and reliable products). Cell phones and tablets are not sufficient ; the screen size on these are too small to be able to effectively view the entire class and any materials that I screen-share during class.
- A reliable internet connection that supports the Zoom application;
- A Zoom account and app (get it for free here: https://www.zoom.us/signup); after creating the account, install the application on your computer. Be sure to write down your account name and password!
- A quiet place to participate in class, preferably a room with a door that closes, to limit background noise; such noise is greatly amplified over the computer and it interferes with other participants being able to hear.
